General FAQ

How does the process work?
Give us a call or send an email for an appointment with one of our expert jewelry buyers. When you come up to our office you will meet with our receptionist. She will direct to a Samuelson’s buyer who will be happy to look at your fine jewelry, diamonds, watches, gold or silver. If we come to an agreement on price, you are paid on the spot. All of our employees are salaried employees of Samuelson’s and are not contractors or paid using commission.

How do you determine the value of jewelry?
At Samuelson’s Buyers, we evaluate each piece or set individually. There are several considerations we give to pieces while evaluating their value. For each category of item the process varies slightly. Particularly, we evaluate the maker/designer of the piece (i.e. Tiffany, Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier etc.), the 4C’s (Cut, Color, Clarity & Carat weight), as well as, the demand of your item(s) in the marketplace also has an impact. Learn more.

What types of jewelry and other items of value do you buy?
We buy all types of jewelry ranging from gold and silver coins to antique jewelry to diamonds and fine watches. Please refer to our list of “what we buy”.

How long have you been in business?
Samuelson’s Buyers has been family owned and operated since 1922. Please take a look at the “About” section of our website.

What do you do with my items after I sell them to you?
Depending on the item, we sell to collectors, jewelers, wholesalers or refiners.
